Admissions Undergraduate ProgramComputing ResourcesAll Rensselaer undergraduates are required to own a laptop computer, and most coursework can be done on the student's personal laptop. Wireless access is available throughout the campus. Rensselaer has numerous public computer labs providing 24 hour a day access to hundreds of PCs, Macs, and Unix workstations from IBM and Sun. In addition, there are a number of computers with specialized architectures. These include high performance graphics workstations for research in scientific visualization, computers for image processing, and massively parallel computers for large scale computation. The most important of these massively parallel computers is an IBM Blue Gene supercomputer, which provides more than 70 TeraFLOPS of computing power. Additional information about Rensselaer's computer facilities is available from Academic and Research Computing. Return to main Undergraduate Program page |
